Some buildings stop you dead in your tracks, and Hundertwasser's Waldspirale in Darmstadt is absolutely one of them: a swirling, color-drenched residential complex where no two of its 1,000-plus windows are the same, trees burst straight through the facade, and straight lines are basically illegal. We'd been meaning to visit for years, and honestly, we're annoyed it took us this long.
